A Fresh Start
As the new school year begins, it's a time of fresh starts for many kids and teenagers. For me, it feels like a fresh start, too. 🎬
After a few months of recharging—spending time with family, learning with no real obligations, and simply enjoying a break from the usual grind—I'm transitioning back into a more structured, "professional" working schedule. During my break, I found a lot of joy in writing This Week I Learned. Though not strictly weekly (and taking a break when the sunny weather called), it became a space for reflection and growth.
One key takeaway from these past few months? My deep passion for software products and the desire to create meaningful impact. Yet, I also want to remember that we all have limits, a lesson I learned the hard way.
So, my desire comes with the realisation that to have a lasting impact, we all need to eliminate waste—wasted time, money, talent, or motivation. On a broader scale, we must also address the waste of natural resources.
With that in mind, I decided to rebrand this newsletter: "Reducing Waste in Software Land".
I will write around these six themes:
- Software Strategy & Innovation - Learn how to get the priorities right and make those difficult decisions.
- Team Building & Organisational Design - Discover how to turn your people into happy high-performers. Without burnout.
- Agile Product Management & Delivery - Organise the work to get things done with actionable yet flexible methods
- Software Architecture - Navigate the different architectures and discover when you need to apply which pattern(s) for maximal business value.
- Software Development - Explore the development techniques and processes that help you build the right things in the right way.
- Sustainable IT— Learn (with me) how we, as a software community, can help tackle mankind's biggest challenge.
Thank you for being part of my journey so far. I look forward to continuing to learn, grow, and make a difference, one step at a time.
Stay tuned for what's next!
P.S.: I am also looking for (freelance) work - feel free to reach out if you have ideas! 🙏🏼
